SIX NORTH STUDIOS
Six North Studios, founded in 2023, is a new film production company with a vision to bridge the gap between Hollywood and indie filmmaking. Much like A24, Six North aims to produce in-house films for release in select cinemas and festivals across the UK.
The founder has a personal connection to the name, rooted deeply in his childhood and his lifelong passion for making movies. As a result, the company's identity needed to capture a cinematic balance that would be memorable yet distinct enough to stand out from other film production companies.

THE BRIEF
After extensive discussions with the CEO, we developed a process to guide the creation of the final deliverable. The first stage was to define the look and feel of the logo icon, which would serve as the foundation for the typography style. A cyan and black colour palette was suggested during this process, but it needed to work effectively on both light and dark backgrounds, moving beyond just white and black tones.
Through these discussions, it became clear that the logo needed to stand out from other production companies. The look and feel had to resonate with millennials and Gen Z, while maintaining a modern, fresh aesthetic.

THE OUTCOME
The original logo used a north-facing compass as an icon, which provided a strong foundation for the identity. Building on this, I took a bold minimalist approach, keeping the same core ideology. The final logo featured a 6 point star, with the north-facing point slightly elongated to emphasize the "North" aspect of the studio’s name.
Incorporating the selected icon style and its pointed edges to suggest motion, I applied the same elements to the logo type. This approach allowed the logo to be used as separate elements, giving flexibility for different applications, which I showcased on a website concept, business cards, apparel, and posters.
