JACK KEARNS
Jack is a freelance motion and graphic designer with a huge love for movies. With a background in film editing and colour grading, he began freelancing as a motion designer for small businesses and events during his time at university, which led him towards a new career path.
To support this direction, Jack launched a website offering a range of design packages covering both graphic and motion design, providing clients with creative resources to grow their businesses and promote events. It was crucial for him to establish a strong, recognisable visual identity to stand out from competitors.

THE CHALLENGE
Although Jack had a background in graphic design, he needed support to create his logo. Since he was promoting himself rather than a business, he wanted his name to serve as his identity, which posed some design challenges in bringing it together.
Jack chose to use his initials, "J" and "K," but found that pairing them didn’t create the overall appeal or aesthetic needed to stand out through his experiments. He also wanted a colour palette that would reflect his personality while ensuring it caught the attention of his target audience.

THE OUTCOME
After experimenting with various styles and typefaces, I created a strong and bold logo that met Jack's needs, alongside a colour palette that was close to his heart. The logo encapsulated his initials in a dynamic icon that conveyed movement and creativity, reflecting his offerings.
Jack had a love for orange, not just because of his hair, but for the warm, bold nature it conveyed. Using this, along with a custom typeface that complemented the logo, I was able to showcase his identity across a variety of deliverables, including a sketchbook, business cards, event cards, social media and email applications.
